MADARA Art Gallery

The Artistic Background of Madara:
Madara grew up surrounded by painting and writing, drawing daily with art supplies provided by his mother. At age five, he began studying under a master of the All Japan Calligraphy Federation and received acclaim at numerous exhibitions throughout his youth. At age 15, he qualified as a master, adopted the pen name “Tsukikaze,” and embarked on his own path in calligraphy. At age 28, he became fascinated with graphology and began researching techniques to improve people’s destinies through handwriting. This led to the development of a style of calligraphy called “Hisekijutsu,” which incorporates prayers. In 2002, he began inscribing names on one-sho rice cakes using Hisekijutsu, a method of engraving for children’s happiness. This garnered significant attention, and over the course of 20 years, he inscribed 800,000 names. However, he lost family members in the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and faced further hardships following the nuclear accident. Despite his efforts after relocating, the company went bankrupt in 2018. He subsequently relocated to Kanagawa and launched a calligraphy-related business in 2023. Taking this opportunity, they changed their name to “Madarra” and are currently active under the name “MADARA.”
