Take home a piece of calligraphy as a souvenir to remember your visit to Japan.

Calligraphy artist “MADARA” will create the piece and deliver it to your hotel.
We will create a one-of-a-kind calligraphy piece for you. We will convert your English name or a favorite phrase into “kanji” and turn it into an art panel, a hanging scroll, or a tenugui (hand towel). We will then deliver your one-of-a-kind piece to the counter at your hotel.
Introducing calligraphy artist MADARA
Madara began studying calligraphy at the age of five in 1977, winning numerous awards from an early age. At the age of 28, she discovered graphology and adopted the art of “graphology,” a method of improving one’s personality and fortune through the way one writes. As a painter, she also incorporates contemporary art into her calligraphy, pursuing her own unique style of expression. If you would like to know more about Madara, please see the article below.

How to choose kanji for your calligraphy work
Example 1: Convert your name into Kanji
Madara will use beautiful kanji characters to your English name to bring good luck. Or, if you have a preferred kanji character, we can use that too.

For “Johnson”
This piece expresses the wish for one to become a noble and dignified person,
like a castle rising above a sea of clouds.
Through Hisseki-jutsu calligraphy, it is written to bring good fortune—
enhancing health, attracting affection, and nurturing beauty.
In Japanese, the name is also pronounced “Johnson.”

For “Olivia”
This calligraphy represents a person of deep sensitivity,
someone who perceives things with grace, love, and purity—
a beautiful soul both inside and out.
Written in the style of Hisseki-jutsu, it carries a fortune of rising health,
kindness that draws others closer, and an aura of beauty.
In Japanese, the name is also pronounced “Olivia.”
Example 2: Write your favorite words
Write your life motto in kanji or words that are important to you in kanji.

Stand firm in your beliefs.
This kanji phrase is read as “Shi-sei-ikkan” in Japanese.
It signifies a strong determination to uphold one’s beliefs with unwavering sincerity.
The Japanese idiom conveys the same powerful meaning as the English phrase.

Stay true to yourself.
This kanji phrase is read as “Ten-shin-ran-man” in Japanese.
It means “to live as your true self, pure and unpretentious.”
The Japanese idiom closely reflects the same spirit as the English phrase.
We can also convert your favorite words into kanji, so please enter your favorite words or questions in the application form.

Please choose the calligraphy piece you would like to create.
