Hello, I am MADARA, a shodo (traditional Japanese calligraphy) artist from KANJI TOKYO. Today, I drew a picture of a Maneki-neko. I want to share the story of the wonders of Maneki-neko that happened in my house.
In Japan, Maneki-neko was seen as a god of luck. It brought good fortune, money, and happiness. Many families had one in their homes.

The Mystery of the Maneki-neko

Maneki-neko is a very familiar and lucky thing in Japan. I had been unable to have a child for five years after I got married. I went to the hospital for a check-up, but there was nothing wrong with me or my wife, and the doctors couldn’t help us.

The Search for the Special Maneki-neko

When we reached the point where only artificial insemination was left, At that time, I learned on X (Twitter) that ”there is a special Maneki-neko believed to have the power to help you become pregnant.” I searched for that Maneki-neko for three months. Finally, I was able to get it. That same year, after displaying the Maneki-neko, I was blessed with my first son.

A Mysterious Sign

There was even more mystery. As soon as my first son was born, the Maneki-neko broke on the small cushion in the cupboard where it was displayed. It was as if it had fulfilled its purpose. Since then, we have treasured and kept the broken Maneki-neko on display.

Perhaps Japanese Maneki-neko has this kind of mysterious power.

Sharing the Maneki-neko’s Power

Therefore, I wanted to share the ‘power of the Maneki-neko’ with people from abroad who love Japanese culture. I decided to add a Maneki-neko design to our Japanese T-shirt series.

Through the charm of the Maneki-neko, I hope to continue bringing good luck to many people.
