Once it had become clear to me which character I wanted to carry and what it should stand for, it became equally clear that the path toward it also needed to be something special. This tattoo was not meant to come into existence lightly – it was meant to be written from a mindset that aligns with my own.
As I began to engage more deeply with the works of KANJI TOKYO and looked at the first calligraphies, I quickly realized that this was not about merely beautifully written characters. Each piece conveyed depth, calmness, and meaning. It was palpable that behind every character there was more than technique – there was mindset, experience, and awareness.
It became increasingly important to me that the artist would not simply write a character according to my idea, but that emotions, understanding, and a genuine human connection would be part of the process. I was not looking for someone who executes, but for someone who listens.
In my exchange with Madara, this exact feeling emerged. I never had the impression of being seen as a customer, but as a person. His responses were neither rushed nor formal, but thoughtful and attentive. I could feel that he was consciously taking the time to truly understand me and my thoughts.
This approach only strengthened my inner certainty. With every message, it became clearer that I was in the right place – not because everything sounded “perfect,” but because it felt honest and coherent. I sensed that it genuinely mattered to him how this character would be created, and that he did not intend to write it carelessly or detached from my story.
I cannot say exactly when this certainty turned into a decision. It was not a single moment, but a quiet, steady feeling that gradually grew stronger. In the end, it felt almost inevitable to entrust this wish to Madara.
Because every character carries its own story – and I trusted that my story would be received here with respect, calmness, and sincerity.
MADARA
What resonated with me in this report was not the word “decision” itself, but the quiet time and unwavering sincerity that led to it.
Danny did not rush toward an answer. Instead, he repeatedly turned inward, carefully reflecting on who should write this character and from what mindset it should be created.
As a calligrapher, I believe that before writing a character, one must first see the person. Through this report, I felt clearly that Danny is not merely a client, but someone who has chosen this path while deeply engaging with his own life and values.
That the character “Gaman” will come into being as part of Danny’s life story is something I receive with great responsibility and respect.
I will face this single character with my full presence and devotion.
