We have received your request for the creation of “Gaman” (endurance).
At KANJI TOKYO, we have received a request from Mr. Danny for a calligraphy artwork of the word “Gaman” (我慢), created specifically for use as a tattoo design. In this report, we would like to share the production process of the Kanji artwork “Gaman,” commissioned by Mr. Danny.
“Gaman” is a single word composed of two characters and carries an important meaning in life. Because this piece is intended to be permanently engraved on the body as a tattoo, we approach its creation with even greater care than our standard works, devoting ample time and attention to each step of the process.
About the production process
At KANJI TOKYO, we do not regard tattoo calligraphy as mere “design production.” Instead, we see it as a process of temporarily receiving our client’s intentions and giving them form.
Before beginning any work, MADARA carefully centers his breath and movements, then proceeds deliberately, without rushing each stroke.
During the creation process, he does not write impulsively or rely on momentum alone. When necessary, he pauses the brush and allows quiet moments of reflection with the characters, layering the process step by step.
This approach reflects our fundamental commitment as a studio: to deliver characters that are worthy of remaining with the client for a lifetime.
About the proposal and selection process
For this request, our calligraphy artist MADARA presented multiple variations of the calligraphy.
Mr. Danny was not required to make an immediate decision and was given sufficient time to thoughtfully engage with each version of the characters.
As a result, he ultimately selected No. 3, “Gaman” (我慢).
We understand this choice to reflect not only considerations of readability and balanced form, but also the sensations conveyed by the characters and the resonance they held with his inner self.
From Vectorization to Final Delivery
The completed calligraphy manuscript was photographed and scanned at high resolution, then converted into digital data. Following this, the image was carefully cleaned and digitally processed to suit tattoo use, and ultimately converted into vector data. Throughout this process, we ensured that the power and vitality of the lines were preserved, creating data suitable for practical use that can withstand scaling both up and down.
After all stages of vectorization were completed, payment was confirmed via web settlement, and the final delivery was officially completed today. With this, the work “Gaman” has progressed beyond a calligraphic piece alone and has now been delivered as fully usable, finished data ready for real-world application.
During the creation process, MADARA carefully regulated his breathing and proceeded with the brush while focusing not only on the meaning of the word, but also on the layers of time and emotion that lie beneath it. “Gaman” does not simply signify endurance; it represents a quiet inner strength that continues to nurture something within. With the hope that this sensibility would naturally emerge through the lines, MADARA infused the work with deliberate variations in stroke strength, along with intentions and wishes expressed through Hisseki-jutsu. This rendition of “Gaman” is created in a manner believed to enhance talent fortune, health fortune, and financial fortune.
Once Mr. Danny’s tattoo is completed, we also plan to produce a visual feature and an additional report to introduce the finished result. This report is presented as a record of the current stage within that ongoing creative process.

Personal Comment for Danny Report #006
While reading this report, I was once again reminded of how much calm, attention, and dedication are contained within this work.
“Gaman” is not just a character to me, but the embodiment of an inner attitude. Seeing the care and respect with which Madara approached this entire process has deepened my trust once again.
This work does not merely feel completed — it feels as though it has arrived.
