Directed by Luca Epifani, Now Released
In December 2025, a new short documentary directed by Italian filmmaker
Luca Epifani was released, featuring the creative process and life story
of Japanese calligraphy artist MADARA.
The film captures the essence of Hisseki-jutsu calligraphy,
MADARA’s journey of rebuilding life after the 2011 disaster,
and the meaning behind the artist name “MADARA,”
presenting these themes through calm yet powerful visual storytelling.
Shot in Hiratsuka, Japan, the documentary includes seaside calligraphy scenes
and intimate interviews that highlight themes of prayer, rebirth,
and the courage to move forward while carrying fear.
